London, After her fairytale marriage to Britain-based businessman Raj Kundra, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty is reportedly planning to hold a grand reception this week at the House of Commons.
Mirror.co.uk reports that Shilpa, who became a big name in the west after winning the “Celebrity Big Brother” in 2007, will hold a special ­reception at the House of Commons Wednesday.
“The ­celebrations have been organised partly by MP Keith Vaz and they are thrilled to be ­holding their special day at such an iconic British location. Shilpa’s having a ceremony in India too but the British celebrations are going to be big and they’ve spent a lot of money ­organising a grand affair,” said a source.
Shilpa met Raj after her win on the British reality show “Big Brother” in 2007. They tied the knot Nov 22 and they share a seven-bedroom house in ­Weybridge, Surrey.
Reportedly Shilpa Shetty’s wedding jewellery was worth Rs.3 crore (Rs.30 million).

Shilpa to bring Bollywood glamour to beleaguered British parliament

London, The British parliament, down in the dumps over a long-running expenses scandal, is set to brighten up to a touch of Indian glamour Wednesday when it hosts a wedding dinner in honour of Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra.
The dinner at the House of Commons is to be hosted by Keith Vaz, Britain’s longest serving MP of Indian origin, and is expected to be attended by prominent British MPs and ministers led by the Leader of the House of Commons and Equality Minister Harriet Harman.
Leading members of the Asian community and corporate leaders will also figure among an estimated 150 guests, said Vaz, who attended the wedding of Shilpa and London-based businessman Kundra in Mumbai November 2009.
“I am absolutely thrilled that we are able to celebrate the wedding of Shilpa and Raj in the House of Commons,” he told IANS Tuesday.
“The wedding ceremony in India was an absolutely beautiful occasion and I am so pleased to be able to bring some of the celebrations to the UK. Both Shilpa and Raj have done so much for charitable causes.”
“Chefs at the House of Commons have created a special dessert called Shilpa’s Delight,” added Vaz, who first met Shilpa after she appeared in Celebrity Big Brother, a TV reality show, in 2007.
Wednesday’s dinner is set to cheer a parliament that has been hit by a scandal over expense claims filed by British MPs, many of which have been criticised as a wastage of public money.
Members returned Tuesday after a much-needed Christmas break following months of media revelations over their expense claims, including one for clearing a moat around an MP’s country estate.
“It’s a dinner in honour of Shilpa and Raj, but I’m sure it will enormously cheer up all of us at the House of Commons because we associate Shilpa with India and glamour,” said Vaz.
“It will cheer us up also because it’s getting so cold here,” said Vaz, as Britain prepared for Arctic weather conditions this week. Temperatures are set to dip to minus 10 in parts of Britain amid predictions of the coldest winter in 100 years.

At last, actress Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have set a date for their wedding! They happy couple will tie the knot on November 22. They have decided not to invite all of Bollywood's glitterati in an effort to stay low-key.

Shilpa Shetty confirmed on her blog: "This is it, YES, THE WEDDING DATES ARE FINAL and celebrations begin from the 21st November with the Wedding on the 22nd and the Reception on the 24th....So these are the real dates (now the press can stop speculating). The last two weeks have only gone into preparations. It was a huge decision and there were a lot of logistical problems mainly because of lack of time and venues…"
She also talked about how she felt about this big step in her life. "I just want to say – I’m going through a lot of mixed feelings – happiness, excitement, nervousness, just like any bride to be and sadness as well...The only consolation is that I’m tying the knot with “Raj” – a man who lets me be myself and doesn’t want me or my life to change, that erases premarital jitters. Obviously marriage is a huge step and with it comes responsibilities, and since I believe in the institution, so I hope and pray that I can make “ours” a success."
Shilpa's sister, Shamita Shetty, who is currently in the Big Boss house, might miss the wedding as the show will not end before. However, if she is evicted from the Big Boss house before November 22, she will be out in time for her sister's big day.

Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty finally got her prince last weekend when she married longtime beau Raj Kundra. So how does it feel to be married? Well, Shilpa took her blog to dish on married life!
"Yes it’s all done and I am officially Shilpa Shetty Kundra now!! So glad all went well, everyone’s prayers were heard and my dad made it (miraculously) on time for my wedding with god’s grace," the "Dostana" item girl said relieved.
And although Shilpa enjoyed the reception for all her Bollywood friends, it seems like the private wedding ceremony was more her style.
"The wedding and sangeet was a private affair but the reception was thrown for all my friends from the fraternity and friends of both the families… God it was a never ending list of people…ALL the people I had been associated with in the last 18 years (even then I had missed out on some names, for which I feel terrible about) I had no idea I knew soooooo many people and I’ve never smiled continuously for soooooo many hours!!!" Shilpa continued.

"It’s been a long week and it’s taken a day and a half to recover from the reception phew! Now I know why couples go on a honeymoon…cause they really need a break after all this looking forward to mine in the Bahamas," the actress and Big Brother alumni revealed.

Shilpa Shetty is back! After spending some time away from the spotlight with her husband Raj Kundra, the Bollywood beauty takes to her blog to talk about her honeymoon in the Bahamas and her love for snow!

"I know it’s been a long time but I have surfaced at last! Back to reality, the last couple weeks felt like a dream:) from the sunny Bahamas back in London for the last couple days and was greeted with snow, yippee! Looks like it will be a white Christmas after all:)" a happy and well-rested Shilpa told her fans.
The Big Brother alumni is back in London where she will be celebrating Christmas with her family, before taking off on a cruise in the Mediterranean. From snow to sun, sounds like a plan!

"I absolutely love the Christmas spirit around this time, lights on the streets, decorating the Christmas tree and placing gifts under it, my nephews and nieces writing out their never ending gift list to ‘Santa’ (so cute), the joy of all families getting together and doing carvery dinners and Oh how can I forget the Christmas sales ha ha!! Just love it all," Shilpa blogged.
But after Christmas, Shilpa will take some more time off to spend time with her family out on the sea where she will also celebrate New Year's Eve.
"Really excited about the Mediterranean cruise we are taking with the family, my first ever making it even more special. Will be out at sea for the next two weeks so wont be able to communicate. Will be bringing in New year on the ship but will give the you guys the lowdown once am back as always."
